
Rachel Goldstein
Rachel Goldstein (Shekhman) is a Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA) with over 13-years of experience. She was a pioneer of the Physician Assistant Education Program at McMaster University, which she completed in 2011, after completing her Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Western Ontario. She is member of the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA). She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Phlebotomy.
She has clinical experience caring for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and a range of digestive diseases. Her aim at TIDHI is to provide a patient-centred experience that combines evidence-based medicine with a holistic approach to caring for patients. She has the training and knowledge to assess, diagnose, advise on and treat medical issues under the supervision of gastroenterologists, which facilitates access to GI care.
She developed procedural and surgical skills from her prior clinical experience working in the Mount Sinai Hospital inpatient Surgical Department and in an outpatient wound care centre in the GTA. She was a patient educator in diabetes management. She has facilitated the training of PA students to help them gain knowledge and practice of clinical skills as well as insight into communication skills with patients with complex needs. She has been involved in clinical research in the realms of endocrinology, wound care, breast cancer, colorectal surgery, postoperative care and IBD.
